Conferences Research SinoAfrica

Next CA/AC Research Network Conference, Hong Kong, July 9 to 11, 2020

The Chinese in Africa/Africans in China Research Network and the Department of Cultural Studies at Lingnan University, Hong Kong, are delighted to announce that the 6th Conference of the Chinese in Africa/Africans in China Research Network will be held in Hong Kong from July 9 to 11, 2020
Over the last decade, the network has contributed to move the global conversation about China-Africa forward in a critical and constructive way while developing a transnational community of scholars and practitioners who value dialogue, equity, and inclusiveness. The network has been crucial at facilitating intellectual exchanges, promoting academic research, and sharing information about engagements between China and the African continent and how this has been impacting geopolitics at a global scale.
Following on the great successes of the previous CA/AC conferences — 2018 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles(Belgium) and 2016 at the University of Nairobi (Kenya) — the 2020 edition of the conference will bring together people from a wide range of disciplines to explore what it means to think about Sino-African pasts, presents and futures. The main theme of the conference will be Precarious Futures?: Geopolitics, Mobility and Materiality.
The CA/AC conferences have a long tradition of inclusiveness. Therefore, we invite not only academics but also practitioners, artists, and other stakeholders to participate. A call for papers/panels and further details will be distributed soon. Stay tuned!
